Debunking common myths about childminding...
There's nothing holding you back from becoming a tiney childminder! Book a call in under 1 minute to chat to us and learn more.

I don't own my own home...
Over 60% of our childminders live in rented properties. As long as you have written permission from your landlord or the council who own the property, you're golden!

My house isn't big enough...
We have tiney homes operating from one bedroom flats in urban tower blocks to homes in the suburbs and countryside - and everything in between! The only types of homes we can’t accept are studios or bedsits, due to regulations around sleeping areas.

I don't have the right experience to become a childminder...
Over 50% of tiney childminders have no previous childcare or teaching experience. We provide full training based on the EYFS framework, with 1:1 support throughout up until registration.

Childminding isn't well paid enough...
Our average tiney childminder earns £31k in their first year, and childminders who hire assistants can earn much more! Sam has recently doubled her income to £5,800 a month after hiring her husband as her assistant.

I have my own children so can't care for others at the same time...
Ofsted regulations say you can care for up to six children under the age of 8 at any one time and these ratios are currently being reviewed. Three of these children can be under the age of 5, plus one can be under the age of 1. You can count your own children in this ratio.

The whole process to become a childminder takes too long...
At tiney, we support childminders to get registered in 1-3 months! You can train at your own pace via our tiney app, so you can complete the training as quickly as you like.

Childminding sounds really lonely...
Joining tiney means you become part of a England's biggest childminding community of over 1200 childminders! We run regular meets up in person and support each other virtually. We also run regular webinars and book clubs and come together twice a year for inset days.

Alicia's story
Meet Former Primary School Teacher Alicia Wilkins
“I didn’t start this with a business mindset. I created my own fees and policies but they take care of the hard stuff, which is great for someone who's never been self-employed before.”

Nikki's story
Meet Former Early Years Practitioner Nikki Walsh
“In my previous childcare roles. the thing that I didn’t enjoy was not being able to give the children 1-on-1 attention. Working in a childminding setting means I can give them all the attention that they need.”
