Before you start – please read carefully

Once a DBS application is submitted, it cannot be edited. If your application is withdrawn due to errors, you will need to reapply and pay again.

What you need to do

Complete the correct application

There are separate DBS applications for:

  • Childminders
  • Household members (aged 16+)
  • Childminders (in a non domestic setting)
  • Assistants

Please make sure you select the correct link before starting. Applications completed using the wrong link may be withdrawn.

We recommend completing applications on a laptop or tablet.

Check your details carefully before submitting

Before you submit, make sure:

  • Your full name matches your ID documents
    (Include all middle names — no initials or abbreviations)
  • Your name history is complete
    (If you are married and your surname has not changed, select Yes to name change and re-enter the same surname)
  • Your address history is accurate
    (Include flat, room, or house numbers using Manual Entry)

Once submitted, details cannot be changed.
